Info on French Bulldogs

From the name French bulldog many people feel that they were originated in France. But their origin lies in England and to some extent America as well. The lace workers of Britain took the English bulldogs to France when they went there in search of work. These dogs were adored in the Northern France and they were called the ratters.

The community increased in size there and when they came back to Britain they had become popular as French bulldogs. Their looks are quite strange and they are smaller in size than the general bulldogs. The structure of their body is stout and the face is square in shape. Their ears look like the bats.

The tail is not curly and small in size. These dogs can grow up to 12 inches or little more. The maximum attainable weight is up to 28 pounds. This shows that they are slightly short and bulky.

The French bulldogs are great companions and loyal pets. You can observe them becoming extremely faithful to you if you are the closest one to them. They are quite friendly with the kids as well. But this is especially for the grown up kids. Most of them like to act gently with the guests but in case some are behaving aggressively then they are in need of little basic behavioral training.

The dogs are just great for indoor activities. They can not lead a happy life if they are left deserted in the home for long time. If there is no one at your home for most of the hours in a day then a French bulldog is not the right pet for you.

They cannot stand extreme weather conditions. Heat can cause sun strokes and chilled winters can develop respiratory troubles. Hence they should be kept indoors. These dogs cannot swim. So if you have water bodies near the house then keep them away from it.

The French bulldogs are prone to few diseases. First of all they can gain too much weight which will make them immobile and lazy. Hence they need at least half an hour exercise time everyday.

Some of them might have visionary problems like watering eyes. This can also cause wrinkles. Hence you need to clean their face with cotton and hydrogen peroxide. Respiratory problems are common in French bulldogs. If you like this dog as a pet then either you can buy them or adopt one.
